MORNING STAR
2021 / Personal project
I love the Morning Star (aka Star of Bethlehem) style of quilts. I finally felt comfortable with my skill level to tackle the Y seams.
Method: I used a combination of printed pattern and Youtube videos to make the star using solid Kona Cotton and fabric I ice dyed. I used pellon fusible interfacing to create the appliqué designs on the edges of the quilt. The theme was things I was interested in during quarantine year 2.
The quilt went together very quick, but then I sat on the top for a whole year because I couldn’t decide how to quilt it. I ended up winning a long arm quilting package in a silent auction and sent it to to finish.
